MindGuyMD · depression treatment
Depression does not always feel like sadness. Irritability, low motivation, emotional numbness, poor concentration, or work and relationship changes can also be signs. MindGuyMD offers a careful psychiatric evaluation and individualized treatment planning by secure video for adult men physically located in New Jersey.
How depression can show up
Depression in adult men may include irritability, loss of motivation or pleasure, social withdrawal, less interest in relationships or sex, poor concentration, sleep changes, emotional numbness, declining work performance, or life feeling like an obligation without enjoyment. Some people increase alcohol or substance use while trying to cope. These signs deserve a careful evaluation rather than a quick assumption.
What the evaluation considers
The first visit is a 60-minute psychiatric evaluation. Before treatment, the clinician considers medical conditions, current medications, sleep, anxiety, burnout, bipolar-spectrum symptoms, substance use, and other contributors. When clinically appropriate, an individualized plan may include non-controlled medication, behavioral strategies, therapy coordination, or a combination. Coordination with an existing therapist or primary care physician happens only with your written authorization.
What to expect, visit by visit
The 60-minute evaluation. You discuss mood, motivation, sleep, concentration, relationships, work, substances, medications, and safety.
A diagnosis when appropriate and a written treatment plan. The plan is based on the full evaluation and does not promise a specific medication or outcome.
Follow-up and monitoring. Visits review symptoms, side effects, daily function, and whether the plan still fits.
Care coordination when useful. An existing therapist or primary care physician is contacted only after you give written authorization.
Individualized planning and follow-up
Depression can have more than one contributor. The plan accounts for your history, current medications, sleep, anxiety, burnout, bipolar-spectrum symptoms, substance use, medical concerns, and previous treatment. Follow-up visits monitor the plan over time and allow clinical decisions to change when the evidence from your visits changes.
