How anxiety can show up
Anxiety can look like constant worry and overthinking, irritability or impatience, panic symptoms, physical tension, sleep disruption, performance anxiety, or avoiding situations that feel hard. You may find it difficult to relax after work or use work, alcohol, or distraction to escape the feeling. These signs can have more than one cause, so an evaluation looks at the full pattern before treatment is chosen.
What the evaluation covers
The first visit is a 60-minute psychiatric evaluation. Anxiety can overlap with depression, burnout, trauma, sleep problems, medical conditions, or medication effects, so the evaluation considers those contributors before a plan is made. When clinically appropriate, a plan may include non-controlled medication and behavioral strategies. The practice’s controlled-substance scope is stated once in the scope section below. Coordination with an existing therapist or primary care physician happens only with your written authorization.
What to expect, visit by visit
The 60-minute evaluation. You discuss the anxiety pattern, physical symptoms, sleep, stress, medications, substances, and safety.
A diagnosis when appropriate and a written plan. The plan is based on your history and may include non-controlled medication, behavioral strategies, or both.
Follow-up and monitoring. Visits review symptoms, side effects, daily function, and whether the plan still fits.
Care coordination when useful. An existing therapist or primary care physician is contacted only after you give written authorization.
A plan for your situation
There is no single anxiety plan that fits everyone. The clinician considers how long symptoms have been present, what triggers them, what helps, how they affect work and relationships, and what other health or mental health concerns may be present. The plan is clinical care, not nationwide coaching, and it does not promise a specific outcome or medication.
Clinical scope and location
You must be physically located in New Jersey during every clinical visit. Clinical evaluation, treatment, and prescribing are separate from MindGuyMD's nationwide non-clinical coaching, which does not diagnose, treat, or prescribe.
